Flower Essences were created by Welsh mystic Dr. Edward Bach in roughly the 1920’s to 1940’s. They may help to shift the energy of negative feelings and emotions, and are intended to aid in moving emotional states toward a more positive place.
Why Dealing with Negative Emotions is Important
Today we know that negative emotions turn into body chemistry, that build body tissue and functions. Knowing this, it is not healthy to bury down any negative emotions, nor try to not feel anything, but help release them somehow, so the person can build healthy body cells and tissue.
I was highly skeptical of Flower Essences when I first started in herbal medicine school. But I was a convert when I was extremely stressed during the holidays, and took four drops of Rescue Remedy, which is a mix of five Flower Essences. Within ten minutes I was much more calm and positive. I was impressed!

There are several flowers essences for fear of known and unknown things, others for anger, jealousy, anger, shame, loneliness, and many more.
They can be used one at a time, or in a mixture.
It’s fine to dose yourself. We need to request permission before giving anything to anyone else. (I know what you were thinking about fixing someone else…Start with yourself!)
How Flower Essences Are Made
They are created by placing flowers of plants and trees into water, and letting them soak up sunshine for several hours. Then the flowers are strained out, and the water is preserved with a small amount of alcohol. This creates a mother essence. Then a small amount is placed into a second bottle with water and alcohol to create the flower essence stock bottle.
Then the process is repeated for a dosing bottle, so that the end dosing bottle is much, much more dilute. This is akin to homeopathic remedies, and indeed, Edward Bach studied at a college named after Hanhemann, found his work to be valid, and even used Hanhemann’s work to prevent death and diseases in World War I ditches.
