Herbal medicine has a very long history – prehistoric, one could easily say. People were using herbs to flavor their food and drink, for rituals, for daily food. Herbs can help add nutrition, heat or moisture to a person. Herbal plant medicines can help stimulate the body to detoxify, calm, help thinking, or cool a too-hot body down. They can be anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral.
I am a Certified Advanced Herbalist (where I studied). I can recommend herbal medicines to you, either singly, or create a custom formula just for you.
Types of Herbal Medicines
There are different forms of herbal medicines available, as well: herbs in alcohol (tinctures), super dilute herbs and other substances in homeopathy, herbal teas (my favorite), lotions and salves, and herbs in foods (mushrooms, garlic, food herbs).

Herbal Use and Safety
I like that most herbs are generally safe to use, and side effects generally stop after their use stops. This is not the same as many Western medicines, which can be addictive, hard to stop (requiring a ramp down sequence), or are so touchy that herbal medicines can’t be mixed with them (I am thinking of blood thinners here).
I personally hardly ever use any herbs that are marked “low-dose” due to their extreme potency, even for myself. There is simply no need. When one knows that herbal action that one desires, there are many choices of herbs from which to choose.
Nevertheless, I am able to check all herbs against a person’s current medications.
